Financing in Qatar

Most people when buying a property, require financing in one manner or another.

We recommend to all of our clients that are looking to purchase, that they should be speaking to their bank about their ability to borrow when they begin to look at purchasing a property. We have a lot of experience in assisting people with obtaining finance, and our sales team can discuss various options with you.

We have strong relationships with a number of banks in Qatar, both conventional and Islamic, and would be happy to provide an introduction to a mortgage banker who can assist you with your mortgage application.

Although all banks have different requirements for their mortgages, in general you should have the following documents in order to speed your approval:

  • passport and ID/RP copies

  • salary letter from your employer

  • six months bank statement from your salary account

  • most banks will require you to transfer your salary to the lending bank although fees vary, most banks will charge an arrangement fee, insurance fee as well as for valuations on the property that you are purchasing

Buying FAQ

Non-resident and Non-GCC passport holders can purchase in various areas throughout Qatar, of which the most popular 4 are: The Pearl Qatar, Lagoona Plaza (Zig Zag Tower), West Bay Lagoon and Lusail City.
You are entitled to apply for a residence permit for the owner and immediate family. This is however not a work permit.
While technically you do not need an RP nor a bank account specifically in almost every case your landlord will insist that you have this as they will want to see you have government approval to live in the country and the landlord will require post-dated cheque payments as well as a security deposit for the lease period. NelsonPark Property, however, has long standing relationships with many landlords who provide a degree of flexibility in the knowledge that setting up RP’s etc can take time. We are often able to negotiate a conditional lease for many clients to secure a property so that they don’t miss out due to administrative constraints and delays
Non-residents and companies can buy, however, it is more difficult to finance through a bank in Qatar so you need to explore financing options prior to starting your property search.
Yes. Most of the banks in Qatar providing mortgage finance, particularly the local (non-international) banks. We can recommend banks within Qatar where mortgage advisors can inform you of the current products and requirements.
The fees vary depending on the development that you purchase from, and whether or not a deed has been provided as of yet on the property. Our agents can inform you of the charges for any specific development that you may be looking at. They will also inform you of charges levied by NelsonPark Property.
Leasing in Qatar can be a complicated and challenging process. Most agencies have a good handle on processes and will be able streamline the process for you. If you are new to Qatar, it also helps to have someone who knows where the right properties are for you and your family so that you can concentrate on the many other priorities of living in a new country – especially if the agency already has good relationships with many landlords. There are a number of “free lance” agents working in Doha that show property in their spare time and are not legally operating. We have been advised that the government in Qatar is in the process of creating a new law that specifically bans all freelance agents. We recommend that you only use a professional legally formed company to assist you with your property requirements. NelsonPark Property is fully licensed and registered in the State of Qatar under the Ministry of Business and Trade, Commercial Registration Number 43104.
